Misconduct in Research and Teaching Violations
The following excerpt from the Constitution of the Graduate Honor System (1991) is provided for your information.
Please refer to the complete document for more detail.
Misconduct in Research or Teaching
This area deserves special mention in the Code since it is an area of special interest to graduate students.
It is not a separate violation category since it may involve cheating, plagiarism, falsification, and/or academic sabotage as discussed in this section.
Misconduct in research does not include those factors intrinsic to the process of research, such as honest error, conflicting data, or differences in interpretation concerning data or experimental design.
Likewise, misconduct in teaching does not include honest disagreement over the method of presentation of instructional material to a class or in the evaluation of the performance of a student. (p. 3)
