Associate Professor and HED Program Coordinator, Steven M. Janosik, Ed.D., Virginia Tech, was appointed as a senior policy analyst and Associate Professor in August of 1997. In addition, Dr.Janosik serves as the Co-director for the Educational Policy Institute of Virginia Tech and has been instrumental in the development of several interactive web sites that address education policy in Virginia.

Prior to this position, he served as Deputy Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia where he worked closely with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, the Virginia Community College System, the Council for Information Management, the Library of Virginia, and the State Department of Education. Dr. Janosik has more than 20 years of experience in college administration. His scholarly activities focus on topics of campus crime, law in higher education, liability and risk management, residence life, and student development.

Associate Professor, Joan B. Hirt, Ph.D., University of Arizona, has over 20 years of experience as a university administrator and faculty member. She started her career in the California State University system before moving to the University of Arizona where she worked as an Associate Dean of Students. Since moving to her current faculty position, she has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters, has presented over 50 programs at national and regional conferences on student affairs and higher education, and has consulted with over a dozen campuses and corporations.

Professor Emeritus, Don G. Creamer, Ed.D., Indiana University, has served for 27 years as professor and coordinator of Higher Education and Student Affairs at Virginia Tech. He had been responsible for coordinating graduate studies in higher education in the ELPS department until the end of the 2004 school year. His scholarly activities have focused on student and organization development, academic advising, quality assurance, and staffing practices.
