Purpose of the Program

    The Higher Education (HED) preparation program provides entry-level professionals with the essential knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary for practice in higher education. Graduate students are prepared to work as student development educators and administrators in higher education. Specifically, students may expect employment in residential programs, campus activities, career planning, judicial programs, counseling, admissions, financial aid, student orientation, special services, and related campus programs.

Degree

   The HED program awards the M.A. Ed. degree to students who complete specified requirements. The program is one of five programs in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. The department is part of the School of Education that is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
