Don Creamer served Virginia Tech
for 28 years in a variety of capacities. For more than 20 years, he has been the driving force behind the Higher Education and Student Affairs Program. On July 15, 2005, Don celebrated his retirement.

To honor his work and distinguished career, his colleagues, students, and family have established the Don G. Creamer Fund, an endowment to be used to support the program he created and, in particular, research on the CAS Standards and the advancement of professionalism by students and faculty members in the Higher Education (HED) Program at Virginia Tech.

SPECIAL NOTE:

November 9, 2007 - The HED Program is especially pleased to announce that the second annual first Don G. Creamer Research Awards have been made. This year's recipients are: Bethany Flora for her project on the Professional Lives of Higher Education Center Administrators, Tonya Saddler for her project on the Role of Collaborative Research Experiences in Preparing Doctoral Students For Faculty Careers, and Racheal Stimpson for her project on Senior Student Affairs Officers Life and Career Paths. The Selection Committee included Don Creamer, Diana Ridgwell, and Ellen Plummer (Chair) and the process was very competitive. If you have the occasion, please congratulate these students on their noteworthy accomplishments.

These awards were made possible by all of those alumni, friends, and colleagues who have contributed to the Don G. Creamer Fund for Excellence. For more information visit "How to Contribute."

June 14, 2007 - Laura Bayless ('01) and Matt Scruggs ('06) participated in the first Don G. Creamer Golf Challenge and won their match at the Miniature Golf Park in Farmville, Virginia. As a result, Joan and Steve made starter contributions to the Creamer Fund in their names.
